$300,000 For Man Injured by Yamaha Rhino UTV
A Jury in Georgia has awarded more than $300,000 in damages to a man injured in a rollover accident involving a Yamaha Rhino utility-terrain vehicle (UTV). The verdict is believed to be the first successful personal injury lawsuit brought against Yamaha in connection with the Rhino UTV and its alleged safety problems. The decision is certain to have implications for the hundreds of other pending lawsuits filed across the country. Lawsuits against Yamaha are centralized in a multidistrict litigation (MDL) in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Following the trial Yamaha issued a statement saying that it was “disappointed by the jury’s decision to find for the plaintiff in this case and will pursue all appropriate legal remedies, including possible appeal.”
