The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said that the Peanut Corporation of America, which has filed for bankruptcy, supplied the peanuts, peanut butter and peanut pasted used in the more that 1500 products that have been linked to more than 500 salmonella related illnesses and nine deaths. The FDA has assured the American consumers that major brands of peanut butter sold in jars are not affected by the recalls so far.
